Canvas is a premium product for which your customers are paying a premium price. Taking the extra step of applying a protective coating is a step that everyone producing canvas prints should take to ensure that the print has that extra protection from the mishandling that may occur once it gets into a client’s hands.
Sunset Gloss Coating and Sunset Satin Coating help by adding a tough, flexible layer of protection and contain UV inhibitors for maximum protection against lighting-induced fading. These coatings are typically applied using a high-pressure low-volume (HPLV) spray gun or by hand using a white high density foam roller.
In the video below you will learn how to apply Sunset Gloss or Satin Coating using a roller…
As an art reproductionist who takes great care & time to produce canvas giclees that well represent the essence of the artist’s original concept, I am adamant about protecting the print such that it will be durable (resistant to marring & scratching, resistant to water), & permanent as a piece to be enjoyed for generations w/out color fading. I want my time & materials investment protected as well, as time wasted & materials wasted, is not a resourceful method of running a business. After much research, trial & error, I have been able to marry the finest large format printer, the truest/widest color gamuat canvas & the richest finishing coating. I LOVE the Sunset Gloss Coating. It does not yellow the print…it has a consistency from can to can that I could never accomplish w/ hand mixing. It dries to a beautiful, enriching finish that is even & smooth (after rolling on very easily. The liquid is very pliable prior to beginning to dry & can be spread around w/out hesitation.
