How to Perform a Head Cleaning on a Canon Inkjet Printer

A couple of days ago we posted a video that shows how to do a nozzle check on a Canon large format inkjet printer, which is the same process for the Canon iPF5100, iPF6100, iPF8000S, iPF9000S and iPF9100 printers. After you perform a head cleaning, always follow up with a nozzle check to make sure it worked. If it didn’t, repeat the process. If you go through the nozzle check/head cleaning process about five or six times there’s likely something else wrong. However, this is very unusual and the printer will almost always let you know if the printheads need to be replaced (click here to see the video on how to replace printheads). Most of the processes detailed in the videos, including the nozzle check and head cleaning, are not quite the same for the latest generation of Canon printers – the iPF6300, iPF6350 and the iPF8300. They use the same menu options, but the path to get there is slightly different. We’re working on these and will let you know when they’re available. If you...

How to Find Your Canon Printer: What to do when the IP Address is Lost

A common issue some people face is losing their printer. Fortunately, it’s not like losing a beloved pet where you have to paper the neighborhood with fliers urging the prompt return of Fido or Fluffy. Instead, the problem is that you’ve lost communication with the printer on the network and now you need to re-establish the connection. This is due to a lot of techno mumbo-jumbo that no one wants to read about, but what you do want to know is how to fix it. The instructions below apply specifically to Canon iPF printers. Epson printers use Epson Net Utility to find and communicate with the printer, so establishing the connection is easier. We’ll go through the process for HP and Epson printers in a future post. So let’s get to it… 1. Go to the printer and make sure it’s turned on. Scroll to the right until you reach the Set/Adj Menu (Settings and Adjustments). Hit Okay (see Figure 1) Figure 1 2. Next, browse through to the IP Address menu (Interface setup > TCP/IP >...

Prints That Win: The Beauty of Innocence

Prints That Win: The Beauty of Innocence For photographic craftsman Kimberly Smith of Muskogee, Okla., a hobby that started as a way to document the growth of her family through scrapbooking turned into a full-blown career. “I really was looking for a better camera to take better pictures of my kids. It turns out, not only did I find a better camera, I also found my passion,” she says. Once Smith decided to pursue photography, she began looking for classes or other educational opportunities. A friend of hers suggested she reach out to Shannon Ledford of Broken Arrow, so that’s just what she did. “When I showed her my work, she said she could tell that I had a good eye,” Smith says. “She was so encouraging to me and my craft.” The two women bonded over photography and became fast friends, with Ledford inviting her to conventions, to her studio and into the lab for experience and training. Nowadays, Smith has embodied the role of mentor to up-and-coming local photographers,...
