Visit LexJet at Dscoop in San Antonio

We’re feeling the heat leading up to this year’s Dscoop Conference, which is celebrating the “Architects of Tomorrow” April 14 to 16 in San Antonio, Texas.

Dscoop brings together the HP Graphic Arts business owners and technical professionals who use HP Indigo, Scitex, High-End Latex and IHPS equipment. In past years, only members could attend the conference, but for this year’s event, Dscoop has opened up membership to everyone within the HP Graphic Solutions community.

So if you’re joining us at Dscoop, be sure to stop by LexJet’s booth #229 where we’ll show you how to “Think LexJet” for primers, overprint varnishes and all of your large-format decor needs. You’ll also learn how LexJet is capable of offering customized functional primers for indigo printing. And we’ll leave you with a hot parting gift, too!

We hope to see you at Dscoop next month. Got questions? Give us a call at 800-453-9538.

Setting a Canvas Printing Standard at FinerWorks

As the name implies, FinerWorks, based in San Antonio, is dedicated to reproducing finer works of art on a variety of printable materials. FinerWorks serves mainly artists and photographers, with a focus on high-quality output.

Toward that end, FinerWorks recently set Sunset by Fredrix Matte Canvas as the standard for its canvas reproduction printing. Moreover, founder and COO James M. Theopistos has leveraged the Sunset and Fredrix brand names in marketing to his customer base.

“We’ve been excited about it, and the feedback from our customers has been very positive as well. I attribute a lot of the success with the new canvas to the Fredrix name. Since most of our customers are artists they’re familiar with the Fredrix name, especially if they do oil or acrylic paintings. They’re used to buying Fredrix canvas for their work,” says Theopistos. Given that, it was a no-brainer from a marketing standpoint. The cost of the canvas is the same, we can push the name brand, and customers appreciate the history and quality behind the Fredrix name.”

Moreover, says Theopistos, though Sunset by Fredrix Matte Canvas is OBA-free, it retains a very high bright point and faithfully reproduces the artwork of a given client on the company’s Canon iPF8300 and iPF8400 inkjet printers.

Perhaps most importantly, Theopistos reports that the canvas provides consistency through a print run and from project to project.

As Theopistos put it at a recent blog post at finerworks.com: “Sunset by Fredrix Matte Canvas brings the expertise of LexJet and Fredrix together for a breakthrough in canvas, featuring one of the highest white levels available for an OBA-free canvas. It’s easy to work with for stretching, mounting and framing, and is ideal for fine art and photographic reproductions on canvas. The acid-free, pH neutral, poly-cotton base provides consistency throughout the print run.”

Trio of LexJet Photo and Fine Art Inkjet Materials Win Hot One Awards

Professional Photographer magazine announced the winners of its annual 2011 Hot One Awards in conjunction with Imaging USA, which starts Saturday, Jan. 15 and runs through Tuesday, Jan. 18 in San Antonio. The award recognizes innovative products introduced in 2010 that made an impact in the photography and fine art markets.

A panel of judges selected LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic Paper, LexJet 8 Mil ImagePro Satin and LexJet Sunset Select Gloss Canvas as Hot One Award winners in three of the five Inkjet Media categories. This year’s Hot One Award winners will be featured in the March issue of Professional Photographer magazine, which wrote about LexJet’s award winners:

Taking home the prize in the Glossy category, LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic brings high-quality metallic paper to the people. Previously, only pro labs using chemical photo processing equipment could output prints on such paper.

To score the award in the Semi-Gloss/Luster category, LexJet had to overcome a strong challenge by two other LexJet papers. The 8 Mil ImagePro Satin edged out its siblings for its easy paper handling through the production cycle. It has an upgraded white point for sharper image quality, a wide color gamut and good contrast rendition. Its new microporous coating dries instantly, perfect for high-speed, high-volume reproduction.

LexJet Sunset Select Gloss Canvas is a 430g, bright white, poly/cotton blend canvas with an Oxford two-over-one weave treated with a high-gloss, ink-receptive coating. The canvas does a superb job with subtle details in shadows and highlights, and with a wide gamut of colors. This water-resistant, pH-neutral, acid-free material works harmoniously with the newest generation of wide-gamut, wide-format aqueous-ink inkjet printers. Ideal for gallery wraps.
