Should You Laminate Your Canvas Prints?

For more than 160 years, Marabu has been renowned for its premium liquid coatings and commitment to environmental responsibility. Upholding the highest industry standards, their ClearShield Canvas Guard provides an excellent protective solution for photographers and artists seeking durable, long-lasting results.

Why You Should Protect Your Canvas Prints

In a busy print shop, canvas prints undergo a lot of handling, from printing to cutting, stretching, and stapling, increasing the risk of scratches and damage. To help you deliver top-quality products, Marabu offers ClearShield Canvas Guard, a protective coating designed specifically for water-resistant canvas and Giclée applications. Its flexibility allows for stretching the canvas after coating without cracking, making it ideal for inkjet canvas. It reduces pinholes and works with both microporous and porous ink-jet receptive layers.

ClearShield Canvas Guard is easy to apply with a roller, brush, or sprayer and offers a range of benefits, including:

      • Advanced UV protection
      • Abrasion and scratch resistance
      • High flexibility
      • Chemical resistance
      • Non-yellowing properties
      • Enhanced color vibrancy

Available in Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin, and Matte finishes, this coating ensures your canvas prints stay protected while looking their best. Marabu also offers the ClearJet Fine Art product line for gel-coated or dye-based inks.

Watch this quick video to see just how simple it is to apply ClearShield Canvas Guard or follow the instructions below.

How to Apply: Use a high-density foam roller or a 3/16" short-nap roller, saturating the roller with ClearShield Canvas Guard but avoiding excess dripping. Apply one thin coat from side to side, let it dry for 30-60 minutes, then apply a second thin to medium coat in the same way.
