Top 26: The National Sunset Print Award Contenders

This week, LexJet will be hosting four prestigious judges in our Sarasota, Fla., headquarters for the third annual National Sunset Print Awards competition.

Each year, photographers and image makers compete at their local and regional print competitions where we offer Sunset Print Awards. The prints that win the Sunset award at those events have the opportunity to compete for the national award each November. Past winners have included Tammy Bevins and Kari Douma.

Desert Rose - Carl CaylorFor the 2016 competiion, 26 local and regional winners are in the running at the national level, such as Carl Caylor, who won the Sunset Print Award at the WPPA conference in Wisconsin for his print, Desert Rose, pictured at right.

“Competing makes you justify everything you do [when creating images],” Caylor says. “It can help but make you a better artist and make better images. With every image you’re creating, you think: What would the judges say about this? All those voices in your head definitely justify the decisions you make.”

Prizes are awarded to the top three prints in the National Sunset Print Awards:

First Place winner will receive:

  • Airfare for two to Sarasota, Fla., and lodging for two at the Lido Beach Resort on beautiful Lido Key, for three days and two nights
  • A $500 Visa gift card
  • Tour of the LexJet headquarters and get a sneak peek at the latest imaging technology

Second place winner receives a $500 Visa gift card

Third place winner receives a $300 Visa gift card
