Entries are now being accepted for one of the world’s richest online photography competitions: The International Aperture Awards. Now in its third year, the competition is open to professional and amateur photographers worldwide. The total prize pool of $80,000 includes a $20,000 prize for the overall winner in the Open division. The eight categories in the Open division include:
- People and Portrait
- Sport
- Landscape
- Science and Nature
- Commercial
- Advertising and Fashion
- Abstract/Illustrative
- Photojournalism and Wedding
The three categories in the amateur division include:
- People and Portrait
- Landscape
- Abstract/Illustrative
The international panel of judges is led by Peter Eastway, a professional photographer who is also the publisher of Better Photography magazine and co-publisher of Better Digital Camera and Better Photoshop Techniques magazine. Other judges on the panel include Bill Hurter, Catherine Hall, Bob Coates, Pieter de Ras, Alycia Alvarez, Dennis Orchard, Christian Fletcher, Chris Lalonde, Ray Lowe and others from Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Canada.
The deadline for uploading entries is this Friday, Oct. 15. The winner is expected to be announced on Dec. 1.
