Analyze the Total Cost of Ownership for Different Wide-Format Inkjet Printers

Wide-format inkjet printers have changed and improved considerably since they first became commercially viable in the mid-1990s. Thermal (or bubble jet) systems were the original inkjet printer class in the wide-format marketplace, but new categories of printer have been introduced over the years with varying degrees of success.

For the beverage wholesaler print shop, the question is: What technology is out there now that can make my output more efficient, cost effective and visually appealing? In this analysis, we’re going to look at some of the major benefits and drawbacks of current inkjet categories for operators in this highly specialized business.

Canon’s New Printers Get Five-Star Ratings from BERTL

BERTL (Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories) has given its highest possible rating to Canon’s new 44-inch imagePROGRAF iPF8300 and 24-inch iPF 6350 and  iPF6300 large format printers. As an independent analyst firm, BERTL reviews new printer products introductions on the basis of 11 categories: build quality, network administration, security, workflow, finish, ease of use, media handling, printing, image quality, features, and price.

Canon’s new printers were granted BERTL’s five-star, “Exceptional” rating, which is given to devices that deliver extraordinary performance throughout the testing process.

“The five-star rating from BERTL, Inc., recognizes the significant investment Canon has made in developing technologies that make the new imagePROGRAF models an ideal solution for the photography, graphic arts and photography markets,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manger, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A.  “The new imagePROGRAF iPF8300, iPF6350 and iPF6300 large-format printers have demonstrated the image quality, value and functionality that customers require to advance their businesses and meet the most exacting customer standards.”

The imagePROGRAF iPF8300, iPF6350 and iPF6300 are compliant with U.S. ENERGY STAR energy-saving standards and RoHS compliance standards.

Zimmerman Portrait Designs Displays Senior Portraits on Sunset Photo Metallic Paper

Last week, I received a nice note from Ric Zimmerman of Zimmerman Portrait Designs in Billings, MT saying how much he has enjoyed using LexJet’s Sunset Photo Metallic Paper.  Here’s what Ric wrote: “When I received it, I must admit that I wasn’t really excited to try it, so I walked around the box for a day or two. Then, I decided, what the heck, and wow, I was really blown away! The results that came off my Canon iPF8100 printer were fantastic!”

Zimmerman Portrait Designs just happened to be in the middle of changing all of their studio samples for the upcoming senior season, so Ric decided to print all the displays with Sunset Photo Metallic. Here are some of the photos he sent me.

“We’ve had so many comments on how my images just seem to pop and have a 3-D look to them,” says Ric. “We have added Sunset Photo Metallic to our product line and I am excited to see how sales go.” Because his sales staff is so excited about the metallic prints, he believes his customers will be too.

Ric closed his letter with these kind words: “Thanks for sending me the paper. LexJet is always on top of the newest and best. Keep up the good work guys. You and your staff are always a pleasure to work with.”

Thanks for the great letter, Ric! We’ll look forward to hearing more about how your senior customers react to seeing their portraits printed on this exciting new product.
