Tip of the Week: Using HP’s Embedded Web Server to Track Jobs and Costs

For owners of HP latex and DesignJet printers, tracking ink and paper costs as well as job submissions is as easy as opening a web browser and entering the printer’s IP address.

Check out the two videos below for step-by-step instructions for using the “accounting” and “submit a job” features. You’ll quickly see that no special software or training is required to use these two powerful tools.

Track your costs. With the “accounting” tab, you’ll be able to take the guesswork out of ink and paper costs, which not only helps you with internal expenses, but also gives you the details you need when bidding jobs for customers.

In this area, which is available for both HP latex and DesignJet printers, you’ll be able to enter your paper and ink costs, adjust settings and, once the job is complete, get cost-per-job reports. See more here:

Submit jobs. You can print directly to your DesignJet printer with this feature, once you enter your printer’s IP address in a web browser. Once there you can change all sorts of settings, including things like reverse printing, auto cutter, paper size and lots more. Plus you can change settings to make reprinting a breeze. Check out this video to see what else it can do:
