Hahnemϋhle FineArt has announced that lightfastness test results for its Digital FineArt Collection and ‘HARMAN by Hahnemϋhle product line can be downloaded from their company website. The tests were conducted to give photographers, artists and print-service providers objective information about how long pigment-ink prints on different types of Hahnemϋhle papers can last without noticeable fading.

All the test results and testing conditions can be found at the main Hahnemuhle website www.hahnemuhle.com (Digital FineArt Collection) and HARMAN Professional Inkjet by Hahnemühle page on the Hahnemuhle US website. The page is under the menu item ‘Longevity.’

The most recent lightfastness test results were reported in June 2010 by LNE (Laboratorie national de metrologie et d’essais) in France. These tests used Epson UltraChrome K3 inks on seven Hahnemuhle products (German Etching, Sugar Cane, Photo Rag Ultra Smooth, Baryta FB, Monet Canvas, Daguerre Canvas, and Leonardo Canvas) and five products from the HARMAN by Hahnemuhle product line (Canvas 450 gsm, Matt Cotton Smooth, Matt Cotton Textured, Gloss Art Fibre, and Gloss Art Fibre Warmtone.) The Hahnemϋhle website also includes 2008 test results from Wilhelm Imaging Research.

The LNE report shows that prints displayed behind glass and exposed to indoor sunlight conditions will last more than 100 years without noticeable fading.

Hahnemϋhle recommends protecting fine art inkjet prints from environmental stresses and using acid-free materials for framing, gluing, and coating.
