Registration for WPPI Now Open

Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) announced today that registration is now open for the WPPI 2013 International Conference and Expo at registration3.experientevent.com/ShowWPP131/?flowcode=ATT 

Photography trade showAll WPPI 2013 classes, events and the expo will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas from March 7-14, 2013. Last year, nearly 16,000 registered attendees and over 180 speakers from throughout the United States as well as from 46 foreign countries as far away as Latin America, Australia and Russia gathered in Las Vegas for WPPI.

The 2013 conference will feature specialized education programs like Platform Classes, Master Classes, Plus Classes and WPPI U. WPPI U is a university-style, two-day workshop providing the fundamentals of photography to help today’s up-and-coming photographers strengthen their shooting skills, learn to market their photography services and how to run a profitable business. Also, the 16×20 Print and Album Competitions provide additional recognition during the event, culminating with the Awards Night extravaganza.

The early bird registration rate for access to the WPPI 2013 Conference and Expo is $199 for WPPI members and $379 for non-members through Dec. 14. On Dec. 15 registration rates increase to regular prices online: $275 for WPPI members and $399 for non-members. PhotoPlus Expo Educational Seminar Schedule Announced

Photography expo and conferenceThe Nielsen Photo Group (NPG) today announced the schedule for its series of educational seminars during the PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo, Oct. 24-27, at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The educational conference begins on Wednesday, Oct. 24 when the Nielsen Photo Group’s Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) presents WPPI University, a one-day series of seminars designed to sharpen creative and business skills for photographers who want to break out on their own. The WPPI University conference pass ($99 online/$139 onsite) includes access to eight seminars featuring tips, techniques, and insight to marketing your brand, promoting your services, and building a successful photography business.

Attendees who register for WPPI University will also receive a 3-day pass to PhotoPlus Expo (Oct. 25-27) and complimentary admission to all keynote presentations.

The PhotoPlus Conference offers more than 90 educational seminars and hands-on labs for attendees to hone their skills, learn new techniques, and participate in discussions with some of the most respected, successful and visually creative photographers and digital image-makers in the world, including: Gregory Heisler, John Paul Caponigro, Mary Virginia Swanson, Corey Rich, Bambi Cantrell, Chris Rainier, Ed Kashi, Julianne Kost, and Michael Grecco, to name a few.

WPPI University Continues in Atlanta, Las Vegas and Portland

WPPI University, the traveling two-day workshop from Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), just concluded its first summer stop in New Jersey and moves on to Atlanta (July 24-25), Las Vegas (Aug. 13-14) and Portland, Ore. (Sept. 5-6).

Photography seminars and workshopsThe workshops are $149 per person and include a mini trade show, a portfolio review, seminars on a variety of topics, lunch and refreshments, a certificate of completion, and a free expo pass to WPPI 2013 in Las Vegas, March 7-14.

Educational tracks include Lighting, Portrait, Business, Business/Marketing, Social Media, Workflow, Seniors and Portrait, all taught by industry experts.

The portfolio review is a one-on-one or group review with one of WPPI’s judges, who will critique portfolios by identifying strengths and weaknesses and then will give advice on how to best showcase your portfolio.

Free Canon Photography in the Parks Program at Seven National Parks

Canon USA Photography in the Parks programCanon U.S.A. is once again joining forces with several of the country’s acclaimed national parks to offer free photography workshops to visitors this summer. The Canon Photography in the Parks Program provides participants with free equipment loans and professional photography instruction as they take part in a guided walking photo tour.

Following the tour, participants have the opportunity to print one of their photos for free on-site, and to download their image collection later from a secure server. Visitors of all ages and experience levels are welcome to participate.

New to this year’s program are Canon video workshop sessions. Visitors can experience and learn about shooting video by using a Canon VIXIA camcorder or EOS digital SLR camera and participating in a hands-on videography demonstration with experts.

“Canon is incredibly excited to help people improve their photography skills and capture the beauty of our national parks through our Photography in the Parks Program,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies & Communications Group, Canon U.S.A. “Our nation’s magnificent and pristine national parks offer the quintessential location to help people improve their photography skills and inspire creativity. In addition, Canon is sponsoring the new National Geographic iPhone application, National Parks by National Geographic. Available as a free download on the App Store, expanded guides for parks participating in the Canon Photography in the Parks Program can be purchased for .99 cents each.

The individual park apps provide users with park information and photo galleries, travel tips from National Geographic editors, and information about park events, including the Canon Photography in the Parks Program. The app also features photo tips to help users capture beautiful photography throughout their summer travels.

The Canon Photography in the Parks Program will take place at various dates through the summer at the following national parks:

Grand Canyon: May 31 through June 20

Zion: June 24 through July 9

Yosemite: July 13 through July 19

Yellowstone: July 23 through July 31

Grand Teton: August 1 through August 2
