Let’s Take It Outside with Aqueous Printers & Media

It’s time to dispel the myth that graphics printed with aqueous technology can’t stand the test of time when displayed outdoors. With wide-format printer manufacturers like Epson, Canon and HP advancing their pigment inks, media is performing better than ever when facing the elements.

“When you’re talking about outdoor durability, it comes down to three things,” says Jaimie Mask, LexJet product specialist, “the inks — which have definitely advanced — and the inkjet coating (including top coat and anchor coating) and the substrate itself. Take LexJet’s TOUGHcoat Water Resistant Polypropylene. The reason we call it TOUGHcoat is because its coating is engineered to withstand outdoor climate changes, like wind and rain.”

A wide variety of brands are featured, including LexJet, Sunset, HP, Canon, Epson, Fredrix, Kodak, and many others.

New and best-selling products are highlighted throughout. If a media is available for more than one type of printer, it will be noted with a small black tab with letters that indicate A=aqueous; S=solvent; U=UV; L=latex.

Because the catalog is digital, you’ll be able to stay right on the page and watch informative videos on several of the products. But the interactivity doesn’t stop there. You can click through the table of contents, search for a product by name, and visit the catalog regularly for the latest updates on new and existing products.

LexJet Introduces Versatile New Polypropylene Blockout Media

Polypropylene inkjet media for displaysLexJet introduces two new lay-flat polypropylene inkjet printable materials that have a gray back coat for added opacity: LexJet 11 Mil Blockout PolyGloss and LexJet 11 Mil Blockout Water-Resistant Polypropylene.

Both can be used as a cost-effective alternative to the typical polyester inkjet materials for trade show and in-store point-of-purchase graphics, as well as long-term indoor banners and short-term outdoor banners.

“We already offer a fantastic water-resistant polypropylene, but our customers were looking for something more opaque that wouldn’t allow as much light to shine through the back and detract from their graphics,” says Jeff Leto, LexJet’s product manager. “The great thing about the new blockout polypropylene materials is that you can use them for practically any type of display graphics applications.”

The water-resistant materials have a bright-white inkjet-receptive coating that yields additional color and contrast. LexJet 11 Mil Blockout PolyGloss is compatible with aqueous inkjet printers and LexJet 11 Mil Blockout Water-Resistant Polypropylene is compatible with aqueous and latex inkjet printers.

Both blockout polypropylene materials are available in 24″ x 75′, 36″ x 75′, 42″ x 75′, 50″ x 75′ and 60″ x 75′ rolls. Easy Photo Application on Boards with New Adhesive Backed Photo Paper

With LexJet’s new Production Satin Photo PSA you can eliminate steps, and save time, materials and money. Rather than apply a mounting adhesive to the back of the paper, apply LexJet Production Satin Photo PSA directly to the board with an adhesive on the back of the paper that will stick to different substrates, like PVC, foam boards and aluminum.

“It’s the best material for photographic applications to board,” says Eli Weingarten, Presentation Graphics, Brooklyn, N.Y. “We’ve always had a hard time with adhesive-backed materials that curl, but this paper applies easily, it has a great finish and our customers like it. It’s an excellent paper.”

Compatible with aqueous inkjet printer and formulated to take advantage of the wide color gamut provided by the latest generation of Canon, Epson and HP printers, LexJet Production Satin Photo PSA is a resin-coated archival paper that ensures longer lasting images that won’t yellow over time. It’s engineered to dry instantly with both dye and pigmented aqueous ink and can be laminated with either thermal or cold laminates.
