YouTube HowTo: How to Apply Wall Graphics with Photo Tex

How to apply inkjet printed wall muralsPhoto Tex is one of the most popular inkjet print materials available at LexJet, and for good reason. It’s versatile, easy to install and just as easy to remove, leaving little to no residue behind after it’s removed.

Though it can be used on a variety of surfaces, and has been, from windows to sign boards, it’s most common application is for wall murals and die-cut decals applied to walls in a diverse range of environments and applications, including convention center graphics, room décor, restaurant art and corporate lobby graphics.

Photo Tex comes in two flavors: One which is compatible with aqueous printers and another compatible with solvent, low-solvent, latex and UV-curable printers. More than a Sample: LexJet Sales & Applications Guides in the Real World

The initial results are in from LexJet customers who picked up the new LexJet Large Format Graphics Sales & Application Guides – one geared toward aqueous printers and the other toward solvent, low-solvent, UV-curable and latex printers (SUV) – and the Guides are performing as designed and beyond expectations.

Sales and application guides for large format inkjet printing“I’m really drooling over this Application Guide. As my rep, Jason Dragash, was describing it over the phone, it pales in comparison to actually seeing it in front of you,” says Les Blevins, owner of Palette Arts, a fine art and photographic reproduction company in Nipomo, Calif. “Just seeing what my options are for media opens up new doors for me, so I’m really excited about it, especially since I got a new Canon iPF8300 from LexJet. It blows my old printers away with the color spectrum. With the six-color printers I was using I would get up against the fence and pretty much stay there because their color gamut was limited. But when you add a true color wheel of red, green and blue, a couple of grays and another black to the mix, I’ve climbed over the fence with the Canon and I’m in pastures I’ve never been in before.”

Blevins says the Application Guide is more than a simple sample book, but a true sales and production tool. It’s simple, in-depth and provides a professional presentation so his clients are given real freedom of choice, he says. Moreover, the key component, at least for Blevins since the majority of his work is art and photo reproduction, is consistency.

“I’ve seen a lot of other sample books and they use different images for each paper. On the other hand, LexJet’s Application Guide uses one image and shows it across all the media offered, which shows me where the color may change and what it will look like across the different media, so that was a really smart move,” explains Blevins. “I can actually hold the Sunset Fibre Satin, for example, look at that image and go forward to the Sunset Velvet Rag and see the real differences between the two. I can see that the Sunset Velvet Rag is actually brighter and more contrasted than the Satin. It allows me to do a direct comparison because I now know as a printer that I’ll see the same differences using the same image on different media. Ultimately, it lets me and my clients gauge what kind of effect we want and choose the paper based on that, which is why I really like the guide.”

The Sales & Applications Guides are $89 and include sheets of banner materials, display films, vinyl media, fine art and photo papers, wall coverings, complete trade show and point of purchase solutions, and various laminates.

Each product includes a brief description, as well as features, applications and technical details. One half of the media is printed and the other is blank so customers can see how colors reproduce on each material and the texture, surface properties and base color of the material before it’s printed.

How to Apply Infinium to Canvas and a Wood Coaster

Printing canvas with a conformable materialLexJet’s new Infinium is the industry’s first transportable graphic. When properly applied it takes on the characteristics – the look and feel – of the material to which it’s applied.

In a typical advertising and promotional program, for instance, graphics for events, trade shows, retail environments and promotional materials often require different types of materials on different printer technology platforms.

With Infinium, one inkjet printable material can be transported to just about everything. This ensures accuracy and brand consistency as well as a reduction in time and materials. Moreover, because it is conformable to almost anything, it can be used creatively in unusual applications, like ceiling tiles, bricks, shoes, footballs, leather and ceramics, as well as more traditional materials like glass, wood and graphic arts boards.

Infinium is not a paper, it’s not a film, and it’s not a transfer material. Simply put, it’s a printable material with laminate and adhesive qualities all in one material. So, for applications that required multiple materials and multiple steps, Infinium does it with one material in two steps: Print and apply.

You can apply it to practically any surface you can imagine, including irregular surfaces and curves, using heat, water or a primer (LexJet Infinium Bond). This technology allows you to pick the surface or substrate you want to image, the print method you want to use and the application method.

LexJet Infinium Gloss and Infinium Matte are compatible with solvent, low solvent, latex and UV-curable printers, and like all LexJet products they come with a 30-day money-back guarantee and super-fast $9.99 flat rate shipping from LexJet’s nationwide network of distribution centers.

In the instructional videos below you’ll see how Infinium retains the texture and look of gesso-coated canvas and a wood coaster when applied using a thermal laminator…

How to Apply LexJet Infinium to Plexiglass

Printing graphics for application to plexiglassAs mentioned in an earlier post, LexJet Infinium is a new inkjet-printable material that conforms to virtually any substrate to which you apply it. Infinium is not a paper, film or transfer medium but a material with adhesive, laminate and print receptive qualities built into it.

When properly applied, Infinium not only conforms to the material but takes on the texture and look of the material. It can be applied with heat, water or a primer (LexJet Infinium Bond), depending on how temporary or permanent the graphic needs to be.

The current generation of LexJet Infinium is compatible with solvent, low solvent, latex and UV curable printers and comes in gloss and matte finishes in roll widths ranging from 25″-54″. For more information about LexJet Infinium, contact a LexJet account specialist at 800-453-9538.

How to Apply LexJet Infinium with a Thermal Laminator

Inkjet printing leatherLexJet Infinium conforms to virtually any surface, taking on the characteristics of that surface when it’s properly applied. When applied to leather or canvas, for instance, Infinium essentially becomes part of the material, retaining its look and texture.

Infinium is not a transfer medium, a paper or a film. You print directly to it in reverse and apply it to the substrate using heat, water or a primer (LexJet Infinium Bond), depending on whether it’s meant to be a temporary or permanent graphic.

The first generation of LexJet Infinium is compatible with solvent, low solvent, latex and UV curable printers. It is available in gloss and matte finishes in roll widths ranging from 25 inches to 54 inches wide.

In the video below, see how Infinium is applied and conforms to a flat piece of finished leather and a piece of leather mounted to cardboard with a thermal laminator. If you have any questions and would like to try a roll (all LexJet products come with a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee), contact a LexJet account specialist at 800-453-9538.

LexJet Launches the Industry’s First Fully Transportable Graphic

Conformable graphic material for promotional and decorative applicationsLexJet has introduced the industry’s first fully transportable graphic, Infinium, a print medium with laminate and adhesive built into one conformable material. LexJet Infinium – which is compatible with low-solvent, solvent, latex and UV-curable printers – can be applied to virtually any surface, including irregular surfaces and curves, using heat, water or a primer (LexJet Infinium Bond).

“Fully transportable means that, with Infinium, you can print the same material with the same image on the same printer for use in multiple applications,” says Jeff Leto, LexJet product manager. “This conformable material gives you the ability to take the graphic anywhere you want onto virtually any substrate and image it.”

Printing LexJet Infinium with a latex printer
LexJet Infinium, which is printed in reverse and applied to the substrate with water, heat or a primer, is compatible with low-solvent, solvent, latex and UV-curable printers.

Infinium is not a paper, it’s not a film and it’s not a transfer material. It’s a clear material you reverse print and apply face down on the substrate with either water, heat or a primer, depending on the application and whether it’s a temporary or permanent graphic. Click here to see how it works at LexJet’s YouTube channel.

“There is a lot of potential with this product, because in the past you had to print to a substrate, laminate it and apply it, and you sometimes had to use a number of different substrates for one project. With Infinium, it’s one step, one material and one process,” says David Kurniawan, owner of Maryland Signs and Graphics in Towson, Md., who runs Infinium on his HP L25500 latex printer. “We can use it on all types of substrates and surfaces, including rough surfaces, which helps us use fewer materials for a lot of different applications.”

Applying graphics to rocks, tiles and ceramics
Yes, you can even customize rocks with Infinium, which essentially becomes part of and takes on the characteristics of the material to which you apply it. Check out how it works at the link provided in this article.

Manufactured with water-based chemistries, LexJet Infinium is a sustainable material that has no VOCs and is PVC-free. And, since it includes print, adhesive and laminate qualities in one material it reduces waste and production steps. LexJet Infinium is compatible with most commonly used post-print processes, including laser cutting, routing and thermoforming without distorting the graphic.

LexJet Infinium is available in Gloss and Matte versions in 25”, 36”, 42”, 50” and 54” widths and 75-foot  roll lengths. Like all LexJet products it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee and super-fast, $9.99 flat rate shipping from LexJet’s nationwide network of distribution centers.
