WPPI Announces Speaker Lineup for WPPI U

Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) announced today its speaker and instructor line-up for WPPI U, taking place Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at WPPI 2013 in Las Vegas. This university-style, two-day workshop provides the fundamentals of photography to help today’s up-and-coming photographers strengthen their shooting skills and learn how to be successful in their business and marketing practices, according to WPPI.

Educational seminars for professional photographersScheduled to teach at WPPI U are renowned professional photographers Jerry Ghionis, Kevin Kubota,  Henk Van Kooten, Doug Gordon, Moshe Zusman, Lindsey Adler, JP Elario, Jared Platt, Tim Meyer and many more.

All WPPI 2013 classes, events and trade show will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas from March 7-14.

WPPI U classes will include topics such as:

  • Lighting and Posing
  • Business and Branding
  • Marketing
  • Postproduction (Lightroom and Photoshop)
  • Social Media
  • Weddings, Portraits, and Seniors

Each class is two hours and a Portfolio Review and Reception for participants will be hosted at the conclusion of the first day. Attendees will receive a certificate of completion from WPPI and a WPPI U T-shirt. The advance-purchase price for WPPI U is $125 for the two-day program if purchased online by March 6. The onsite price is $150. WPPI U sponsors include: Graphistudio, Bay Photo, Sigma, Millers, Adobe and more.

Win a LexJet Sunset Award at the Professional Photographers of Michigan

The Professional Photographers of Michigan (PPM) will host February Frenzy at the Comfort Inn in Birch Run, Mich., Feb. 15-17, which includes a print competition, seminars with award-winning photographers and other social events.

Photo print competitionAt the print competition, the Best of Show winner picks up a LexJet Sunset Award as well, which comes with a $200 gift certificate for LexJet-branded products, including the award-winning Sunset line of photo and fine art papers and canvas. If the award-winning image is printed on a Sunset paper the winner gets an additional $200 LexJet gift certificate.

The print competition begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16. Print judges for 2013 are Mark Garber, Barbara Younts, Darrell Moll, Christie Kline, Peter Yu and Randy McNeilly. The Jury Chairman is David Deutsch.

If you’re entering the competition, drop off your cases on Friday, Feb. 15, between 3 and 6 p.m. at the Comfort Inn Birch Run Conference Room.

Last year, nearly 16,000 registered attendees and over 180 speakers from throughout the United States as well as from 46 foreign countries as far away as Latin America, Australia and Russia gathered in Las Vegas for WPPI.

The 2013 conference will feature specialized education programs like Platform Classes, Master Classes, Plus Classes and WPPI U. WPPI U is a university-style, two-day workshop providing the fundamentals of photography to help today’s up-and-coming photographers strengthen their shooting skills, learn to market their photography services and how to run a profitable business. Also, the 16×20 Print and Album Competitions provide additional recognition during the event, culminating with the Awards Night extravaganza.

The early bird registration rate for access to the WPPI 2013 Conference and Expo is $199 for WPPI members and $379 for non-members through Dec. 14. PhotoPlus Expo Educational Seminar Schedule Announced

Photography expo and conferenceThe Nielsen Photo Group (NPG) today announced the schedule for its series of educational seminars during the PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo, Oct. 24-27, at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The educational conference begins on Wednesday, Oct. 24 when the Nielsen Photo Group’s Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) presents WPPI University, a one-day series of seminars designed to sharpen creative and business skills for photographers who want to break out on their own. The WPPI University conference pass ($99 online/$139 onsite) includes access to eight seminars featuring tips, techniques, and insight to marketing your brand, promoting your services, and building a successful photography business.

Attendees who register for WPPI University will also receive a 3-day pass to PhotoPlus Expo (Oct. 25-27) and complimentary admission to all keynote presentations.

WPPI University Continues in Atlanta, Las Vegas and Portland

WPPI University, the traveling two-day workshop from Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), just concluded its first summer stop in New Jersey and moves on to Atlanta (July 24-25), Las Vegas (Aug. 13-14) and Portland, Ore. (Sept. 5-6).

Photography seminars and workshopsThe workshops are $149 per person and include a mini trade show, a portfolio review, seminars on a variety of topics, lunch and refreshments, a certificate of completion, and a free expo pass to WPPI 2013 in Las Vegas, March 7-14.
