New Instant-Dry Photo Papers for Solvent, Low-Solvent, Latex and UV-Curable Printing

Three new instant-dry photo papers for solvent, low-solvent, UV-curable and latex printers that address both high-end and production-oriented photo reproduction and graphics production have been introduced by LexJet.

The new LexJet photo papers include:

LexJet Sunset Photo Gloss SUV 275g: Provides the same benefits as the new satin photo paper but in a gloss finish. Both papers are specially formulated to dry instantly with low-solvent, solvent, latex and UV-curable inks so that users can put their take-up reel to work for longer production runs. They’re also the thickest, most durable photo papers on the market in their class. Important Firmware Update for the HP Designjet L26500

HP Designjet L26500HP just released firmware version 9.0.0.2 for the HP Designjet L26500. The firmware update is now available for download at www.hp.com/go/L26500/support is strongly recommended.

The new firmware update optimizes the Carriage Rail Cleaning & Lubrication triggers to help keep the printer maintained and running optimally. Some newly-installed printers have seen 87:02 lubrication warnings shortly after installation, but with the firmware update these warnings will be avoided.

After the firmware has been upgraded:

  • If coming from version 5 or below, the printer will start to display requests for printer maintenance when needed, depending on the printer’s usage and/or your workflow
  • If coming from version 6 or 8, the printer will continue to display requests for printer maintenance when needed, depending on the printer’s usage and/or your workflow.

HP Designjet L25500 Firmware Update Improves Various Printer Functions

Inkjet printer firmware updatesPrint shops running the HP Designjet L25500 latex inkjet printer should take 15 minutes or so to run a new firmware version released by HP this week. Firmware version 5.0.0.8 includes improved printhead reliability, drying time control, OMAS calibration and a friction detection message.

With the friction detection message the printer may require occasional carriage rail maintenance. HP has a video at its website that shows how to perform this maintenance at www.hp.com/go/L2Series/CarriageRailMaintenance_video.

To find out what firmware version you have, and to update to the latest, follow these four steps…

Step 1: View your current printer’s firmware version

  • In the printer’s front panel, select Main Menu>Information>View printer information, or go to the Embedded Web Server (type the IP address of the printer from any web browser) and click on the Setup tab
  • If the firmware version is 5.0.0.8 or greater, you do not need to upgrade the printer. If it is a previous release, continue with Step 2 and upgrade your printer

Step 2: Download the firmware from hp.com

Step 3: Install the firmware to the printer

  • Go to the Embedded Web Server (type the IP address of the printer from any Web browser) and click on the Setup tab

Click on update and follow the instructions on the screen.
