At Two Point Eight Imaging, the key to success lies in a combination of dedication, innovation, and the use of the right tools for the job. We had the pleasure of speaking with Matt Tobia, the General Manager of Two Point Eight Imaging, to learn more about their journey and the various challenges and achievements that have contributed to their growth and success.

A Dynamic Beginning

Two Point Eight began as the printing division of The Factory NYC, a fabrication company founded in 2013. By 2017, recognizing its growth potential, Two Point Eight separated from its sister company and relocated to a larger facility to further expand its capabilities. Specializing in event graphics, pop-ups, trade shows, office interiors, and large-format applications like wall wraps and floor graphics, Two Point Eight quickly established itself as a go-to provider for high-end companies and corporate events.

Helping Customers Define Their Vision

Many of Two Point Eight’s customers come in knowing exactly what they want, having researched or seen specific images of projects they want to replicate. However, others often have only a basic idea or are uncertain about the best approach for their projects. This is where Two Point Eight truly shines.

Matt and his team leverage their extensive experience and graphic design backgrounds to guide these customers through the process. By offering expert recommendations from the start, they ensure that the final products meet and exceed client expectations. “When we can give recommendations at the beginning, the products end up turning out really nice because we can offer our experience and provide good suggestions on what will create a nice environment,” Matt explained.

This collaborative approach transforms vague ideas into polished, professional results. Whether selecting the right materials, advising on design elements, or planning the logistics of large-scale installations, Two Point Eight provides the expertise necessary to bring each customer’s vision to life.

The Power of Fast-Paced Projects

One of Two Point Eight's standout aspects is their ability to handle fast-moving projects. Matt shared that some of their favorite assignments have been from clients reaching out right before a significant event. Despite the tight timelines, Two Point Eight consistently delivers impressive results, thrilling their clients with the outcomes. "It’s a great feeling to have everyone come together to make things happen in a really short timeline," Matt said.

Noteworthy Projects

Two Point Eight's portfolio is filled with remarkable projects. One notable assignment was for RIMOWA, a German luxury luggage company. This fast-moving and large-scale exhibition, designed and produced by Mazarine, at the Chelsea Factory, a performing arts theater in New York, required wrapping all the windows outside and creating a stunning exhibition inside.

Another significant project involved wrapping the entire exterior of the Hook & Ladder No. 8 firehouse in New York for the movie Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. This challenging task required the team to work on lifts and cover the brick building, including fabricated elements, resulting in a visually striking outcome.

Equipment and Expertise

Two Point Eight relies on a robust lineup of equipment, including two Epson® SureColor® R5070L resin printers, a Mimaki UCJV300-160 UV printer, an HP Latex 800W, and various finishing equipment. These machines serve as the backbone of their operations, allowing them to produce high-quality prints efficiently. They also partner with a local company for dye-sub printing services, further expanding their capabilities.

Epson resin printers are particularly valued for their immediate drying capabilities, eliminating off-gassing time and enabling quick lamination. The HP Latex 800W and Mimaki UCJV300-160 UV printers, both equipped with white ink, allow Two Point Eight to achieve smooth gradients and intricate designs for window graphics and interior office projects, helping them create unique graphics that stand out from competitors.

Creative Flexibility with the Right Media

Various LexJet media plays a crucial role in Two Point Eight's operations. The HP Prime Matte with gray backing is a favorite, offering a unique solution for blocking light transmission. They also use Jessup SideWalk™ and floor vinyl for its versatility and Lintec window film. These products enable Two Point Eight to take on diverse projects and push the boundaries of creativity.

Growth and Future Aspirations

Two Point Eight has expanded significantly over the past four years. They have increased their client base and added more production machines. Looking ahead, the company aims to move to a larger facility, acquire additional equipment like a flatbed printer and a fabric printer, and expand its team. They aim to become a one-stop shop where everything is done in-house and easily controlled.

Two Point Eight continues its strong partnership with LexJet thanks to its sales rep, Joe Francies. Matt recalls the exceptional support he has received from Joe, who keeps the team informed about the latest promotions and products and ensures they have everything they need to succeed.

At Two Point Eight, combining innovative equipment, creative expertise, and reliable partnerships has led to impressive growth and success. As they continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in large-format printing and event production, we’re excited to see what the future holds for this dynamic company.
