First Users of Sunset Photo Metallic Begin to Spread the Word

We’re delighted to see that some of the first customers to try LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic paper for inkjet photo printing are helping us spread the word. For example, we noticed that photographer Jack V. Johnson had written about Sunset Photo Metallic on his blog.

So, we contacted him and asked if he would mind providing more detailed comments and an image of one of the prints he had made with the new paper.

Here’s what Jack Johnson had to say: “LexJet’s Sunset Photo Metallic is the paper I’ve been waiting for. I’ve made a number of prints of my landscape photos, and everyone who has seen them has commented on their feeling of depth and luminosity. I can’t wait to print more images on this paper!”  He praised the rich, vibrant colors, deep blacks, and distinctive metallic peralescence he was able to achieve in the prints rolling off his own in-studio inkjet printer.

On his blog post, Jack asked other photographers for advice on how they have presented their work on metallic, Fuji Crystal Archive, or Kodak Endura media.  (We would be interested in hearing your tips on this topic, too!)

If you haven’t yet tried LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic, check it out! It’s a 10-mil, 255g premium paper that is compatible with the pigment inks used in the latest generations of pro-model aqueous-ink printers from Canon, Epson, and HP.  Sunset Photo Metallic gives you full creative control over the types of metallic prints that previously were available only from labs that used Kodak Endura with traditional chemical photo-processors.

The unique look of the prints comes from a combination of a lustrous sheen in the base paper and the high-gloss reflective finish of the print surface.  Sunset Photo Metallic features an instant-dry, scratch-resistant print surface and is available in three sheet sizes (8.5 x 11, 17 x 22 in., and 13 x 19 in.) and five roll widths (10 in., 17 in., 24 in., 36 in., and 44 in.).

Our customers seem to enthusiastic about the creative possibilities of this paper that LexJet will be conducting a Shine On! Print Competition this summer. The individuals who submit the best images printed on LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic paper can qualify to win a brand-new 24-in. Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6300 printer, one of three Apple iPads, or LexJet gift certificates worth up to $750.

  1. I have only had the opportunity to make two prints with this new paper …. but both of them were fantastic — especially compared to the other papers I have used for these two images. The Metallic really makes the colors pop and come to life. Thanks for a great new paper.
