Centuries-Old Company Light-Years Ahead of Its Time

In the modern fine art paper world, you will find many great products available that meet different quality requirements and artistic demands. However, there is one brand that stands out from the rest for its centuries-old history, purity, and excellence, inevitably attracting many fans worldwide. That brand is Hahnemühle.

Founded in 1584, Hahnemühle has evolved and transcended all trends by producing fine art papers using ancient recipes from high-quality cotton fibers, pulp or plant fibers, and pure spring water, making Hahnemühle one of the leading paper producers worldwide.

Sustainability is top of mind in today’s business environment, but Hahnemühle had already begun its sustainable journey long before it was a popular global movement. As early as 1965, Hahnemühle was the first paper manufacturer to produce exclusively vegan artists’ papers and still does not use animal glues or other animal substrates in their paper production practices today.

In 2008, as part of its “Green Rooster” initiative to support regional, national, and international environmental education programs, Hahnemühle’s sustainable papers were created from unique raw materials like rapidly renewable bamboo grass, which led to the creation of an innovative new line of papers, the “Natural Line.” This new product line is made of bamboo, hemp, agave, and newly added sugar cane, available for fine art photo prints, digital art, or art reproductions. Some important environmentally friendly factors to note about these selected plants are that they require minimal maintenance, can grow quickly, require little water, and don’t need any pesticides.

All Natural Line papers are:

  • Vegan
  • Resistant to aging
  • Acid-free

Named German “Brand of the Century” for the third time in a row by an advisory board of top brand experts, Hahnemühle continues to surpass its own quality standards through the centuries and looks ahead to protect and preserve natural resources for future generations of artists.

Innovative Products That Take on Heat and Pressure Like a Champ

Venturing into the world of dye-sublimation can lead to an adventurous journey of countless possibilities and profitable paths. From high-end wall tiles that elevate a space to small, personalized products that increase brand awareness, your imagination is the only limit to your business growth.

Investing in the right equipment and high-quality products can significantly impact productivity, efficiency, and profitability. One essential product for all businesses offering dye-sublimation is a heat press that can take on the necessary heat and pressure and deliver high-quality results every time. LexJet provides many solutions to fit your sublimation needs, including Geo Knight and Sefa heat presses. Not all heat presses are the same, so which one you invest in will depend on budget, space, and the level of automation you require.

Geo Knight Presses

Geo Knight offers presses of various sizes, manual and automated, with a heavy-duty, long-lasting solid steel welded framework. One popular option for smaller projects or a business just starting with sublimation is the manual Geo Knight Digital Knight 16×20 Swinger. The 16×20 swing-away moves the top to the side so you can have full access to the table to place your substrate, then swing the top back in place when you’re ready to press. This type of design can make t-shirt pressing a breeze!

The automatic version, Geo Knight Digital Knight Automatic Air, offers smooth automatic pressing and pushbutton activation providing a productive, fatigue-free operation.

The controller utilizes an easy-to-read oversized-digit LCD to show time and temperature simultaneously. These presses feature a high-accuracy pressure regulator and pressure gauge for specific psi settings, which is a critical factor for success when pressing different substrates that may each require a particular pressure for best results.

The operator can use the 70 programmable presets for saving common application settings of Temp/Time/Pressure, ensuring consistent, repeatable results for all applications. Having preset settings for each product you offer can save you time and avoid costly errors that may occur when the incorrect heat or pressure is used. Not enough pressure can result in faded-looking products, and too much heat may burn your design. Geo Knight boasts a lifetime warranty on the heat platen and an unprecedented 3-year warranty on the heat-control electronics.

Sefa Presses

If you’re looking for a different type of heat press that is not a swing-away or clamshell style, one option is Sefa’s SLIDE 1285 UL, a large-format, air-operated, manual-drawer press. The SLIDE 1285’s two independent heating areas make it suitable for sublimation on large-format textiles and large-format rigid substrates.

SUBLI 1510+ UL is a large-format pneumatic press with two motorized drawer plates dedicated to textile and rigid substrate sublimation. The pneumatic system allows heat and pressure to disperse evenly during the sublimation process, which reduces ghosting and other challenges customers have experienced with other heat presses.

Sefa worked closely with the ChromaLuxe® manufacturers to create the perfect heat presses for their high-end aluminum panels, so the Sefa and ChromaLuxe duo is a winning sublimation combination.

Popular applications for the Sefa solutions include sublimation to rigid substrates, textile sublimation, flex, and with ChromaLuxe Aluminum panels.

Unisub Sublimatable Blanks

Once you’ve chosen the heat press that will take your business to the next level, the next step is determining which products your company wants to offer. LexJet has many durable, easy-to-use sublimation blanks available such as Unisub coasters, ornaments, magnets, key chains, pet tags, and the beautiful ChromaLuxe wall tiles that will elevate the ambiance of any space. ChromaLuxe tiles are available in various sizes and finishes offering superior quality and durability.

Customized gifts and products are hot sellers, adding a much more personal touch to company gifts for employees, family and friends, and customers who want their unique gift or promotional products to stand out. The sublimation process is easy- choose your design, print, and press onto your chosen substrate for a unique product your customers will love.

No matter what you plan to offer your customers, we have high-quality equipment and products to expand your market. To learn more, please contact a LexJet Customer Specialist at 800-453-9538 or visit lexjet.com.

Choosing the Right Cutters and Laminators to Grow Your Business

Are you expanding your business in 2023? As the new year approaches, the finishing equipment you need to optimize print production should be top of mind. Investing in the proper cutting and laminating equipment is an essential part of any growing print shop, which may require research to decide which options will help you reach your goals.

Some important things to consider in your search for the right cutter and laminator are how much space the equipment will require, the cost of the initial investment, and what new services can be offered to your customers with the latest finishing equipment.

Cutters

LexJet offers multiple cutting solutions from decades-old industry leaders like Graphtec and Summa to help speed up production and expand your product line with equipment that can handle all your complex contour needs. Adding a cutter to your shop’s workflow will allow you to create custom decals, signage, promotional products, and corrugated packaging- all of which can expand your reach to many new markets.

Graphtec Cutting Solutions

Graphtec offers multiple solutions, from the FC9000 Series, their most advanced and versatile roll-fed cutting plotter, to the CE7000 Series. High precision cutting capabilities with printed and unprinted materials are possible with the FC9000 Series- the ultimate finishing solution for the wide format signage, apparel, and automotive industries. You can confidently cut anything from delicate window tint to rigid magnets and high-intensity reflective.

Graphtec provides a Cutting Master 4 plug-in for Adobe and Corel users, Graphtec Studio for Mac, and the popular Graphtec Pro Studio software for design and cut graphics. The CE7000 Series works with both PC and MAC platforms, or you can use the handy USB thumb drive port.

Summa Cutting Solutions

Summa offers various options as part of their SummaCut Series, with refinements like the newly designed drag-knife cutting head. SummaCut can read registration marks for contour cutting not only on standard materials but also on reflective, holographic, or mirrored materials, as well as through the many different types of laminates being used today. The SummaCut Series features highly complex algorithms to compensate for any deformation of the print, using reliable sensor technology. Summa cutters include GoSign cutting software cutting software.

Laminators

Printing is the first step in meeting your customers’ needs, but durability, longevity, and additional protection are also essential. UV and fading protection, flexibility, and enhanced colors are some benefits of investing in a high-quality laminator.

When searching for laminators, you will discover that not all laminators are created equal. There are many options, like top heat, dual heat, cold, thermal, and more. With cold laminators, the laminate is added to the print, whereas heat lamination completely encapsulates the print.

Some things to consider when choosing a laminator are if the laminator can keep up with the pace of your printer, which one works best with your media, and how much you want to invest.

GFP Laminators

GFP machines are simple to operate, and some models include installation and training. The laminators are ideal for finishing professionals who need versatility, quality, and economy in one machine. Various options are available, from cold to top heat to dual heat.

Royal Sovereign Laminators

Royal Sovereign offers many options, from economically priced cold laminators to smaller laminators better suited for graphic shops with limited space availability. All solutions are specifically designed for users to efficiently and professionally finish wide-format graphics.
