Illinois Company Revs Up Custom Car Show Signs Sometimes a passion can turn into an excellent business opportunity, which is exactly what happened to Gary Hedlin, who owns Show Car Signs, a business that specializes in designing, printing and mounting customized signs for car shows. The signs are displayed on the ground, on easels or mounted onto a 4-foot brushed-aluminum stand, and the verbiage on the sign describes details like the car’s make, model and year, horsepower, wheel types, suspension, vehicle upgrades and other tidbits to help the car stand out in the competition. READ MORE

How Bumblejax Gives Mounted Photos Some Real Pop When Seattle, Wash.-based Bumblejax wanted to create an ecommerce site that allowed anyone to have access to high-end, modern face-mounted photo displays, they tested out several different photo papers before settling on the winning product. About five years ago, they came across the award-winning LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic Paper, and they were sold. READ MORE

Seattle Exhibit Gives March Posters a Worthy Display Outside of its political implications, the Jan. 21 Women’s March offered an opportunity for artists to showcase their skills, in the form of spirited poster art, which was on display in an exhibit at Seattle’s Center on Contemporary Art (CoCA). To prepare for the opening reception of the exhibit, artist Stephen Rock printed the exhibit images on LexJet Premium Matte Paper. READ MORE

History in the Printing: One School’s Dedication to Fostering Creativity Each year, more than half a million middle and high school students participate in the National History Day competition. At the Weiss School in Palm Beach, Fla., this means months of research and preparation for the students, guided by their mentor and social studies instructor, Steven Hammerman. Recognizing the possibility for educational integration, Hammerman got in touch with LexJet and purchased a printer for the school, along with LexJet Print-N-Stick Fabric. READ MORE

Café Décor Redux: Honoring Marc Chagall’s Vision When Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Fla., decided to renovate its café, the designers wanted to pay homage to painter Marc Chagall’s dreamy vision of life and the quaint French town where he spent his final years. Working with print service provider, Now That’s a Wrap, the Selby team chose to cover the interior and exterior walls with LexJet Simple Flo Wrap Vinyl and Simple Flo Wrap Gloss UV laminate. READ MORE

Made in the Shade: Fine Art Paper Adds an Artsy Finish Getting a glimpse into Michael Macone’s world is a crafty art-lover’s dream. Macone runs The Potter’s Shed in Shell Lake, Wis., a cool art gallery-meets cafe-meets do-it-yourself art space-meets music venue. One of Macone’s most popular items is the artsy lamps, which are almost entirely created in-house. The wood base is made in the woodshop, the body is extruded clay that’s manipulated while it’s still wet. The shade is printed on LexJet Sunset Textured Fine Art Paper 310g. READ MORE

Adding School Spirit to Gym Mats with HEYtex Vinyl In the world of wide-format printing, there’s almost no limit to what can be printed, wrapped and mounted. So, when a high school superintendent approached Logan Merz of Merz Ink to reupholster the padded mats that line the gymnasium wall, Merz turned to HEYtex 15 oz TopazDS, the ideal scrim banner to not only produce great images of the school’s Eagles mascot, but it could also stand up to the wear-and-tear the mats would endure during basketball games. READ MORE

Thesis Exhibits Get Graphic with LexJet Print-N-Stick When designer Nathan Lambert of Full Color, Inc., a professional printing lab in Dallas, needed to put together his master of arts thesis exhibit along with a handful of his peers, he opted for an easy-to-use product that would work on all surfaces, floor to ceiling. “For these big final presentations, we used LexJet Solvent Print-N-Stick Fabric everywhere,” Lambert says. READ MORE
