Game-Changing Display Films for Banners and Trade Shows

When we introduced LexJet Production Display Film and Production Display Film SUV in January, we knew from our own testing that these were going to change the game for print providers who produce banner stands and trade show graphics. And that was confirmed when the feedback came rolling in from the field.

crossroadsBetter Banners

Long-time LexJet customer Neil Buchelt of Advanced Imaging in Lisle, Ill., was experimenting with LexJet Production Display Film SUV, and creating individual retractable banner stands, as well as the trio of stands, pictured at right, that can be used on their own or as a larger expo display.

He also chose the film when he got a job printing 60 banner stands for the Irish Consulate in Chicago as part of the Easter Rising commemoration. The banners were used in Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York and Houston, and had to be turned around in a matter of a few days.

The Consulate’s banners were designed with old newspaper clippings and a lot of small text, often on a dark-green backdrop, as pictured. “I was a little nervous because the text was so small,” Buchelt says. “But it came out crystal clear.”

Trade Show Versatility

Mark Weibel of Meridian Corporation in LaCrosse, Wis., says he’s tried a handful of different retractable banner materials over the years, and recently settled on LexJet Production Display Film SUV, thanks to its lay-flat properties and the fact that it doesn’t need to be laminated.

“Other products are marketed as ‘lay-flat,’ but I have found that this one really, in fact, works,” Weibel says.

Beyond retractable banners, he’s used the film for a floor-standing 40-foot long trade show display for a furniture company and also for dry erase flip charts for seminars and workshops.

“It’s a really versatile material,” he says. “We laminate it with dry erase coating so it can be written on. Paper with an over-laminate like that tends to tear. When you use this, it’s really strong. It’s also unaffected by humidity and moister, unlike a paper. Plus, it’s almost as inexpensive as paper.”

LexJet Production Display Film is available in aqueous or solvent versions, both of which are compatible with latex inks.
