Wildlife Photographer Applauds LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic as ‘Best of Both Worlds’

We appreciate all of the feedback we get from customers who try different products. LexJet uses these insights to continually develop new and improved products.

For example, we recently received a nice note from Brian Hampton, the nature and wildlife photographer who was featured in Vol. 4, No. 1 of LexJet’s In Focus newsletter for a 5 x 8 ft. print he produced on LexJet Sunset Photo eSatin 300g paper for a special exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. (The print showcased Brian’s image of a lioness that was the grand-prize winner in the Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards.)  In the note Brian tells us why he is so impressed with LexJet’s new Sunset Photo Metallic paper. Brian writes: “When I began to print my own images about five years ago, I chose a glossy paper. The primary reason was how well the detail printed compared to all of the other papers I tried. However, it wasn’t long before I abandoned the glossy paper because of how fragile it seemed to be. In handling the prints I would occasionally wind up with a blemish due to a crinkle. Further, as I began to laminate the image to Gatorboard I would see a bump or dimple in the print. I thought this was due to some dirt or foreign substance that I failed to see when laminating. However, I learned later this was not always the case, and the bump was in the Gatorboard. For these reasons, I compromised the detail I really like in my images by going to a less vulnerable paper like the LexJet Sunset Photo eSatin. Now that you have introduced the Sunset Photo Metallic, I have the best of both worlds.”

“The Photo Metallic paper allows the great detail of a glossy paper without the fragility,” Brian explains. “I really like your new Sunset Photo Metallic paper and the detail of my images printed on this paper matches or exceeds any other paper I have tried. Also, I feel there is more depth to the image than the traditional two-dimensional print.”

“Great job, LexJet!,” he adds. “Thank you for continuing to think out of the box to improve your customers’ finished product.”
