Scorch Fitness Focuses on Goals in a Big Way

When faced with a giant, blank wall, many business owners would simply choose a wall paper pattern, install it and call it a day. But Scorch Fitness, located in Sarasota, Fla., had a better idea: Why not create a customized wall mural to inspire their members to achieve their goals?

“The purpose of this mural was to … use it as a reminder to our members of why they’re here,” says Liz Lowe, Scorch co-owner and head coach. Paired with the break-through design of the mural, goals are printed in big, bold letters … “I want to be healthy,” “I want to sweat my butt off” are just two of the shared objectives that are reinforced every day.

“This wall behind us has totally changed the dynamic of the energy within here,” says fellow co-owner and founder, Ryan McDonald.

The team at Now That’s a Wrap printed the mural on LexJet Simple Flo Wrap Vinyl, and finished it with a UV coating for extra durability.

LexJet and York Partner at ISA Sign Expo

ISA LJ

The International Sign Association (ISA) Sign Expo took place last weekend in Las Vegas, and LexJet partnered with York Wallcoverings to man a booth showing off the latest inkjet-printable wallcovering offerings.

ISA’s International Sign Expo draws more than 580 international companies who present their wares to more than 21,000 show attendees every year. This year, LexJet and York featured about 20 substrates. Some of the clear favorites, says Wade Neff, director of digital at York Wallcoverings, were those with gold and silver finishes. He attributes that, in part, to more people with latex printers that can handle those substrates.

“Clearly there were a lot of people with new latex printers,” Neff says. “They’re looking to diversify their offerings beyond the pressure-sensitive product offerings. They’re looking for a variety of colors and finishes – from pearl to silver and gold and reflective mylar.”

The silver and gold surfaces, highlighted in the center image in the LexJet-York booth, was definitely an eye catcher to passersby. And while there was a lot of interest about the wide variety of digital wallcovering options, the attendees were also eager for knowledge, says LexJet’s Carey Masera.

“We ran into all these people with the latest latex printers, but who had a very basic idea of what to do with them,” Masera says. “And they didn’t really know much about wallcoverings: how to sell them and where to sell them.

“We have the opportunity to be in the forefront of all of this. The technology was there, but they don’t know a lot about it. So we can take on the role of educator.”

LexJet is York’s exclusive distributor to the signage industry in the U.S., Neff says. “We’ve worked with LexJet for years as both a vendor and supplier,” he says. “Clearly LexJet is a market leader when it comes to distribution to the signage channel. We really like the growth that LexJet has been on for the last several years. And they’re great guys who are passionate about servicing their customers.”

The LexJet-York partnership helps to expand LexJet’s offerings to its customers, says LexJet’s Vincent Bejar. “York has a much more diverse selection of decorative wall papers, in addition to the bright whites with different textures that are higher-end artistic options,” Bejar says.

Inkjet Printed Wall Mural + Social Media = Immediate Sales

Printing custom wall murals for businesses and homes

Samples sell. It’s that simple. Illustrate what you can do in your studio, lobby or showroom and the application sells itself.

At least that’s what Andy Wredberg, owner of AW Artworks in Sun Prairie, Wis., has found by decorating his studio with various inkjet media applications from photo paper to canvas.

Apply wall murals on textured surfaces

Wredberg’s most recent studio sample was a large 80″ x 72″ wall mural, pictured here, that he applied using Photo Tex Repositionable Fabric from LexJet. Wredberg posted the project on Facebook and almost immediately received four inquiries. Two of those have already led to sales and Wredberg is meeting with the other two next week.

“What I posted on my Facebook page is that this type of wall mural is perfect for doing something as permanent or temporary as you want for a home or business. If you live in a rental, for instance, and you want to do something that you can easily take down, this is an excellent way to do it instead of using wallpaper,” explains Wredberg. “The walls in my shop are heavily textured, yet I was able to apply it, and it looks great. I used the 42-inch wide version and overlapped it by two inches to fill up one wall and show people who walk in that it will go over just about any wall surface.”

A Million and One Uses for Photo Tex Repositionable Fabric

Printing home decor with an inkjet printer

Okay. So the headline is a bit of an exaggeration. Still, print shops are finding various unorthodox ways of using Photo Tex Repositionable Fabric from LexJet.

Printing office and home decor with an inkjet printer
It looks real, but it's printed on Photo Tex and leads visitors to Spectra Imaging to find out more.

Brian Rogers, founder and CEO of Spectra Imaging in Louisville, Ky., recently took Photo Tex for a spin in his newly remodeled kitchen. A long-time user of the aqueous version of the material for commercial projects, Rogers started using the solvent version when he added solvent printers to the production mix this year.

“We love the solvent version because it’s more durable, and the color and saturation we get from it is superb,” says Rogers.

The idea to cover his kitchen walls with “slate” printed on Photo Tex was born of necessity and the intriguing faux environment he could create. Following the remodel, Rogers found that the kitchen would need to be re-painted. Instead of painting, Rogers decided to give the kitchen the custom wallpaper treatment with Photo Tex.

Printing corporate advertising
Spectra Imaging founder and CEO Brian Rogers says the graphics on these columns, printed on Photo Tex, were so seamless that passersby thought they were painted.

“We’ve done several bedrooms and a den with the same material and the applications have been remarkable,” says Rogers. “Photo Tex is very easy to work with and applying it is a breeze.”

As shown in the photos, Spectra Imaging has done a number of wall-oriented projects for its customers.

Spectra Imaging also features Photo Tex in its lobby and conference room. The larger-than-life images turn heads and lead to sales for similar applications.
