Sunset Fibre Rag wins Hot One Award
Jon Scott, owner of JS Graphics Inc., Chicago, has made Sunset Fibre Rag a staple of his fine art printing for its wide color gamut, consistency and flexibility.

Sunset Fibre Rag, introduced in March 2012, was developed based on demand from photographers and fine art reproduction companies looking for the high-end air-dried look and feel on a 100 percent cotton rag base.

“This paper has a great Dmax, the color gamut is pretty amazing and the surface is nice and consistent,” says Jon Scott, owner of JS Graphics Inc., a fine art reproduction company based in Chicago. “It also comes in various sheet and roll sizes, which is great, because it gives us more flexibility in our printing.”

Sunset Production Matte Canvas Wins Hot One Award
Richard Herschberger, owner of Herschberger Galerie, Arthur, Ill., says he gets “more bang for the buck” from Sunset Production Matte Canvas.

Sunset Production Matte Canvas, introduced in December 2012, complements LexJet’s Sunset Canvas line by providing an economical but consistent option for higher production workflows.

“Of course I really like the price of this new canvas from LexJet, but it still provides good color reproduction. It has a little more tooth to show the canvas texture for mass production projects that require that look,” says Richard Herschberger, owner of Herschberger Galerie in Arthur, Ill. “I also like the fact that I can get it in 60-foot rolls so I’m not changing it out as often; you get more bang for the buck that way.”

Trio of LexJet Photo and Fine Art Inkjet Materials Win Hot One Awards

Professional Photographer magazine announced the winners of its annual 2011 Hot One Awards in conjunction with Imaging USA, which starts Saturday, Jan. 15 and runs through Tuesday, Jan. 18 in San Antonio. The award recognizes innovative products introduced in 2010 that made an impact in the photography and fine art markets.

A panel of judges selected LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic Paper, LexJet 8 Mil ImagePro Satin and LexJet Sunset Select Gloss Canvas as Hot One Award winners in three of the five Inkjet Media categories. This year’s Hot One Award winners will be featured in the March issue of Professional Photographer magazine, which wrote about LexJet’s award winners:

Taking home the prize in the Glossy category, LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic brings high-quality metallic paper to the people. Previously, only pro labs using chemical photo processing equipment could output prints on such paper.

To score the award in the Semi-Gloss/Luster category, LexJet had to overcome a strong challenge by two other LexJet papers. The 8 Mil ImagePro Satin edged out its siblings for its easy paper handling through the production cycle. It has an upgraded white point for sharper image quality, a wide color gamut and good contrast rendition. Its new microporous coating dries instantly, perfect for high-speed, high-volume reproduction.

LexJet Sunset Select Gloss Canvas is a 430g, bright white, poly/cotton blend canvas with an Oxford two-over-one weave treated with a high-gloss, ink-receptive coating. The canvas does a superb job with subtle details in shadows and highlights, and with a wide gamut of colors. This water-resistant, pH-neutral, acid-free material works harmoniously with the newest generation of wide-gamut, wide-format aqueous-ink inkjet printers. Ideal for gallery wraps.

Sunset Velvet Rag and Sunset Select Canvas Win ‘Hot One’ Awards

Two products in LexJet’s Sunset portfolio of materials for professional-quality fine-art and photographic printing have received 2010 Hot Awards from Professional Photographer Magazine.  The two products chosen as “Hot Ones” in the Inkjet Media category are Sunset Velvet Rag 315g and Sunset Select Matte Canvas.

LexJet’s award-winning products are among 57 Hot Ones chosen from the 260 entries submitted by 122 companies. The awards were selected by 52 independent, practicing professional photographers who were selected for their expertise and knowledge. They made their selections based on overall quality, innovation, design, performance, and value for the price.

“The winners of the 2010 Hot One Awards represent ‘the pro’s choice’ of new photographic products,” says Jeff Kent, Hot One Awards editor for Professional Photographer. “This isn’t some scientific analysis conducted by a bunch of clinicians in lab coats, but a poll of real pros working in the real world. The result is a list of worthy winners that help make professional photography easier, more creative and more efficient.”

Like all products in LexJet’s  Sunset product line, Sunset Velvet Rag and Sunset Select Matte Canvas were designed to deliver superb print quality, particularly with the wide-gamut pigment inksets used in today’s pro-model printers from Epson, Canon, and HP.

Sunset Velvet Rag 315g is a 100% cotton-rag, OBA-free, neutral-white paper with a slightly textured surface that resembles art papers used with traditional etching presses.

Sunset Select Matte Canvas is a water-resistant, poly-cotton blend canvas with an unsurpassed white point and a pH-neutral, acid-free inkjet coating that allows for greater consistency from print to print. An improved version of this popular canvas was introduced at the end of 2009, with a coating designed to deliver a greater Dmax and wider color gamut.

“This isn’t the first time Sunset products have received Hot One Awards,” noted product manager Alex Ried. “We are deeply honored every time a panel of professional photographers selects a Sunset product for this prestigious award.”
