Epson Introduces Five New Printers at ISA 2019

Thursday, Epson announced new additions to the SureColor P-Series and S-Series printer families. There will be production versions of the Standard P10000 and P20000:

  • SureColor P10000 Production – 44-in aqueous printer designed to create high-quality sign and graphics in fast-paced production environments. Perfect for signage, indoor displays and photographic/fine art printing.
  • SureColor P20000 Production – 64-in aqueous printer designed to create high-quality sign and graphics in fast-paced production environments. Perfect for signage, indoor displays and photographic/fine art printing.

What’s different? ONYX RIPcenter, a workflow software that incorporates Adobe Postscript® and is a powerful color management tool is now included.

The new Production printers offer the same 2.6” wide Epson PrecisionCore® MicroTFP printhead as the Standard edition and the Epson UltraChrome® PRO nine-color pigmented ink set will still be available with high-capacity 700 ml ink cartridges which, along with more efficient ink usage, allows for an extremely low cost per print.

These printers will be available to order starting in May.

In addition to the Production P-Series printers, Epson also announced the availability of Print and Cut bundles for the SureColor S-Series.

Available for order in June, these bundles will include an S-Series printer, and FC8600-130 cutter and Onyx software.

The S60600 is one of the fastest production printers on the market and now, combined with the Graphtec cutter and Onyx GamaPrintPro with Onyx CUT-Server, a premium print and cut solution is available.

The S80600 partners photographic image output with a top-of-the-line cutter and Onyx Thrive, to provide color-critical clients a reliable print and cut option.

Ordering details are not available for these new Epson printers, but if you would like more information, please call one of our printer specialists at 800-453-9538.

The LexJet Experience: Bringing Applications to Life

The LexJet Experience was a success! Our open-house showcased equipment, RIP software and media applications for local customers. Representatives were on hand from Canon, EPSON and HP as well as GRAPHTEC, SignComp framing systems, Onyx and ImagePrint.

Set up on the third floor of the Sarasota, Fla. headquarters, the trade show-style event allowed LexJet customers the opportunity to discuss current technology, best practices and innovative applications with the vendors of their choice.

Vince Bejar, LexJet sales representative, had several customers in attendance. “They were excited about the opportunity to visit our office,” he says. “They enjoyed the hospitality and are looking forward to growing with our partnership.”

Timothy Mitchell, the resident expert in all things HP Latex, was available to discuss the best media to use with the latex printers, including his recent review of the new HP Prime Gloss Air GP.

With such an intimate setting, customers spent as much time as they needed with vendors. “I was happy about the way the customers engaged in conversations with everyone,” said HP Partner Business Manager, Frank DeMartino. “They had questions about specific applications for both the latex printers and the Z-series printers, and they wanted to learn more about the vertical trimmer on the Z9+.”

Craig Hellman, Senior Account Manager for Epson, agreed that customers were seeking solutions for unique applications. “There was a lot of interest in dye-sub printing,” Hellman said. “They want to know how to create promotional products, displays, signage and, of course, apparel.”

With Epson’s breadth of products, it wasn’t just the dye-sub applications that piqued their curiosity. “People are very interested in what the SureColor S-Series (solvent) printers can do. They asked about signage and display, but they also want to know about décor printing.”

As the day began winding down, everyone seemed to have the same question: “When are you going to do this again? This was a great learning experience.”

Given the positive feedback we’ve received, we look forward to doing another open house later this year. If you were in attendance, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact your LexJet sales representative at 800-453-9538, leave us a comment here on the blog, or visit our Facebook page.

Get Double the Mileage with Double-sided Banners

With summer right around the corner, you’re sure to see an uptick in requests for outdoor signage. One way to get a lot of mileage from one piece of media is with double-sided printing. A product like HP Double-sided Blockout Banner makes it easy to produce quality graphics on both sides of the media, thanks to an inner opaque layer that won’t let the graphics bleed through or let light show through.

Double-sided banners can work for outdoor signage like pole flags or hanging banners. They can also come in handy for retail signage when you’ve got a lot of two-way foot traffic.

Choose a matte finish to eliminate any glare. Also, opt for a heavier lay-flat banner media that will eliminate curling along the edges and can finished with grommets, rather than folding and sewing the edges, for a clean, easy-to-handle final banner.

Using a substantial, latex- and solvent-compatible product like HP Double-sided Blockout Banner will allow you to print on both sides of one piece of media, rather than having to glue or sew two graphics together. You can line up your graphic to have the same messaging on both sides, or switch it up so passersby get a new message when they’re coming or going.

If you haven’t tried double-sided printing, check out this training video from Onyx, which takes you step-by-step through the process:

Improve Color and Workflow with the New ONYX 11.1 RIP Software

Onyx Graphics announced the release of ONYX 11.1 software, now available through LexJet. This release adds six new features to the 21 enhancements of ONYX 11.0 software to further streamline wide format workflow for professional print service providers.

ONYX 11.1 RIP Software Update
ONYX 11.1 introduces the Print Mode Defined Colors, which adds the ability to create spot colors based on a specific print mode.

ONYX 11.1 software is available for the full Onyx Graphics product line including ONYX Thrive workflow software and ONYX ProductionHouse, ONYX PosterShop and ONYX RIPCenter RIP software.

Perhaps the biggest news with the new release is that ONYX PosterShop will now include the ability to generate color profiles. Upgrade to ONYX PosterShop 11.1 now to optimize your color output by generating profiles for your unique printing workflow. The ONYX Profile Generation module is simple, easy and automated with the ONYX Print > Read > Next workflow. Powerful tools are also available to control and fine-tune advanced color profiles.

Onyx Graphics designed ONYX 11.1 software to offer users the ability to improve color output quality by taking advantage of the new, expanded gamut ink control included in the color profiling module. This expanded color gamut gives users the ability to easily match corporate colors, achieve deeper darks and print a wider range of colors.

Additional color enhancements in ONYX 11.1 include simplified spot color ink restriction with the new dynamic multi-channel ink restriction swatches, enabling users to enhance output quality without sacrificing color. For example, users can control the starting point of orange and other HiFi inks to eliminate grainy output with multi-channel ink restriction swatches.

Automation enhancements incorporated into ONYX 11.1 include unit sizing and disproportionate scaling in Job Properties as well as mirror and print reflection control.

A new cut path previewing feature improves user confidence in printed output before submitting images to production. The ability to preview cut paths in Job Editor, RIP-Queue and Job Properties modules is combined with a new, cut-only workflow. This new workflow is important for users primarily handling cut vinyl, enabling them to import jobs directly into the cut-server module without the extra step of printing.

ONYX Thrive 11.1 workflow software includes the latest Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE) 3.2 for a true end-to-end PDF workflow. According to Adobe, APPE 3 combines performance optimizations with a new scalable framework to power high-speed digital presses and large format printers. Print service providers will benefit from the fastest rendering platform for reliable reproduction of complex, graphically-rich content.

ONYX also offers various technical tutorials and white papers through the documentation section of myonyx.
