How-to Video: Loading Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-Series Printers

The launch of the new Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-Series printers has been successful for many reasons (e.g.: smaller footprint, improved print performance and speed), but one notable improvement over previous incarnations of Canon printers is the ease with which paper can be loaded. In just a few steps, you can load single or multiple rolls of media, keeping downtime to a minimum.

Select “New Roll” on panel

The media loading process is so simplified, a beep and a button push is all it takes to let you know that the paper is ready to go. The only time manual adjustment is needed is if the printer detects an alignment issue.

Michael Clementi, LexJet’s tech specialist, reviewed these printers last summer. At that time, he noted that Canon had reduced some of the clumsiness that occurred with the older models: “With just a quick beep and a button push, the printer takes the media into the printer and registers it. No more opening up the top hatch and lining up the paper.”

How-To Videos: Banner Stand Setup is a Breeze with Expand Banner Stands

Expand Banner Stands are extremely easy to use when both installing a graphic and setting a stand up for display. Two of those stands are the XStand and the MediaScreen.

How to set up an Expand banner standExpand Banner Stands come with a lifetime warranty and all but the MediaScreen 2 Outdoor are certified by Expand for use with LexJet 5.5 Mil Matte Opaque Display Film for aqueous printers and LexJet Satin Light Block Polyester (7 Mil or 9 Mil) for solvent, low solvent, UV curable and latex printers. For more information about Expand Banner Stands at LexJet, click here.

The XStand is a lightweight option that sets up almost effortlessly. The only extra labor required prior to installing the graphic is to attach graphic plates to the four corners on the back of the finished graphic. When installing the graphic, you simply attach each corner of the graphic to one of the four arms and use the fifth arm to support the stand and adjust the display angle.

The MediaScreen is a user-friendly retractable display. Installing the graphic into the cassette is easy. Attaching the top of the graphic to the graphic rail is even easier since the rail clamps down on the graphic.

Setting up the stand for display is as simple as unfolding the foot, inserting the telescopic pole into the foot, and then lifting up the graphic and attaching it to the support pole. The telescopic support pole can then be adjusted to heights between 63″ and 88 5/8″.

How-To Videos: Printing, Trimming Banner Stand Graphics Simplified with Templates

How to trim a graphic for a banner standWhen printing a graphic for use in an Expand Banner Stand, the templates provided for Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop simplify the printing and trimming process.

Using one of these templates will allow you to print out your graphic with crop marks and cut guidelines. For retractable stands, the non-visible area that goes into the cassette is also delineated. The importance of using the templates is illustrated in the trimming process.

When trimming the graphic, all you need is a straight edge and a blade. Simply line up the straight edge on the cut guideline and trim the graphic. The result is a perfectly trimmed graphic that is ready to be installed into the stand.

How To Video: Coating Canvas by Hand with a Roller

Coating canvas with Sunset Satin CoatingCanvas is a premium product for which your customers are paying a premium price. Taking the extra step of applying a protective coating is a step that everyone producing canvas prints should take to ensure that the print has that extra protection from the mishandling that may occur once it gets into a client’s hands.

Sunset Gloss Coating and Sunset Satin Coating help by adding a tough, flexible layer of protection and contain UV inhibitors for maximum protection against lighting-induced fading. These coatings are typically applied using a high-pressure low-volume (HPLV) spray gun or by hand using a white high density foam roller.
