Centuries-Old Company Light-Years Ahead of Its Time

In the modern fine art paper world, you will find many great products available that meet different quality requirements and artistic demands. However, there is one brand that stands out from the rest for its centuries-old history, purity, and excellence, inevitably attracting many fans worldwide. That brand is Hahnemühle.

Founded in 1584, Hahnemühle has evolved and transcended all trends by producing fine art papers using ancient recipes from high-quality cotton fibers, pulp or plant fibers, and pure spring water, making Hahnemühle one of the leading paper producers worldwide.

Sustainability is top of mind in today’s business environment, but Hahnemühle had already begun its sustainable journey long before it was a popular global movement. As early as 1965, Hahnemühle was the first paper manufacturer to produce exclusively vegan artists’ papers and still does not use animal glues or other animal substrates in their paper production practices today.

In 2008, as part of its “Green Rooster” initiative to support regional, national, and international environmental education programs, Hahnemühle’s sustainable papers were created from unique raw materials like rapidly renewable bamboo grass, which led to the creation of an innovative new line of papers, the “Natural Line.” This new product line is made of bamboo, hemp, agave, and newly added sugar cane, available for fine art photo prints, digital art, or art reproductions. Some important environmentally friendly factors to note about these selected plants are that they require minimal maintenance, can grow quickly, require little water, and don’t need any pesticides.

All Natural Line papers are:

  • Vegan
  • Resistant to aging
  • Acid-free

Named German “Brand of the Century” for the third time in a row by an advisory board of top brand experts, Hahnemühle continues to surpass its own quality standards through the centuries and looks ahead to protect and preserve natural resources for future generations of artists.

Explore New Markets with Fisher Textiles for Dye-Sub

Now that we’re carrying a versatile portfolio of Fisher Textiles‘ fabrics for wide-format dye-sublimation transferring, you can explore more options to offer your customers. Providing dye-sub fabrics in wide-format sizes makes it easier for you to create great-looking outdoor signage, trade show graphics and even high-demand décor items at lower prices than other wide-format print technologies.

Fabric signage has become increasingly popular in the last few years, edging out vinyls and films for its ease of use, inexpensive shipping costs and ever-improving reproduction results. Plus, our finishing partners like SignComp, are creating more options to make them easier to install the final display.

For exhibits and signage or table skirts, try Fisher Textiles 1707 Soft Knit for a lightweight option or the award-winning Fisher Textiles 4019 Nirvana with a block-out banner when you need lightweight fabric plus opacity.

For photo backdrops, like the one pictured, we recommend Fisher Textiles 1708 Heavy Knit, which can also double for roll-up banner stands or Fisher Textiles 4608 Power Stretch, which can be shaped into geometric displays and tension displays.

Fabrics in backlit displays are another preferred choice these days. Fisher Textiles 8864 Triple White and Fisher Textiles 8862 Single White Backlit both perform excellently.

Teardrop flags for sales and seasonal promotions are stylish and easy to use, and we’ve recently added Fisher Textiles 1701 Primary Flag specifically for this high-demand application.

One of the most exciting dye-sub applications is in the décor market. Sew-free SEG-type frames, such as those offered by SignComp, give dye-sub printers the opportunity to create finished wall art that’s a less-expensive option than traditional canvas. For instance, if you use Fisher Textiles 1709 Heavy Knit with a SignComp Front Load Soft Signage Kit, you’ll save at least 50% on the fabric over typical canvases on the market, and the frame can be used again and again as the graphics and messaging changes — what a great price savings and usability to pass on to your customers!

Plus, the SignComp frames are quick and easy to use. Check out this how-to video:

The Go-To Matte Canvas for High-End Art Prints

Over the years, customers have turned, time and again, to LexJet Sunset Reserve Matte Canvas, to produce vibrant, fine-art and photo-realistic graphics on a smooth matte canvas finish that offers a high-quality, lasting image.

The poly-cotton blend and neutral-white finish deliver consistent imaging for a variety of commercial graphics, as well as fine-art and photographic reproductions. LexJet Sunset Reserve Matte Canvas was developed to produce great colors without optical brighteners.

“I loved the texture of that for art prints; I like the tooth it has on it,” Andy Wredberg of AW Artworks said in this post.

It’s also been a long-time favorite for Hawaii-based Chromaco, thanks to its wide color gamut and Dmax that deliver bright and bold art reproductions. Adding Sunset Gloss Coating protects the canvas for gallery wraps that have become increasingly popular, Chromaco says. Check out their work here.

The Next Evolution in OBA-Free Canvas: Sunset by Fredrix Matte Canvas

OBA Free Canvas
This giant gallery wrap reproduction of a photo Jorge Blanco took of Mesa Arch in Utah was printed on Sunset by Fredrix Matte Canvas in three panels and stretched on 1 1/2″ stretcher bars. Blanco says huge pieces like this are great alternatives to wall murals since they can be easily detached and moved to a new home or office.

Based on demand from fine art reproduction companies, print shops and photographers for a consistent, high-performing OBA-free canvas, LexJet and Fredrix Print Canvas introduce Sunset by Fredrix Matte Canvas.

The new canvas has a brighter white point than other OBA-free canvases, provides consistent print quality, and is easy to stretch and finish.

Jorge Blanco, owner of Gallery Works, a fine art and photography reproduction company based in Tampa, says, “I’m very impressed with it so far. I think it’s a hit. I don’t know of anything like it. I’ve tried other canvases and they always seem to have one problem or another with cracking when you coat and stretch, but this canvas performs very well for me. And, the output is as good or better than any canvas I’ve tried.”

Compatible with the latest aqueous inkjet print technology from Canon, Epson and HP, Sunset by Fredrix Matte Canvas is built on an acid-free, pH neutral, poly-cotton base.

“Our customers that prefer to use an OBA-free canvas also want more consistency than they’ve seen in the past, both in output and finishing, whether they’re coating and stretching a canvas or simply framing it,” says Jaimie Mask, LexJet product manager.

Sunset by Fredrix Canvas is now available from LexJet’s North American Distribution Network for fast delivery in 17″ x 40′, 24″ x 40′, 36″ x 40′, 44″ x 40′, 60″ x 40′ and 64″ x 40′ roll sizes. Contact a LexJet customer specialist at 800-453-9538 for more information.
