Chromaluxe Panels make Shiny Prints

The title of this article has a double meaning.

Yes, Chromaluxe does make good-looking, shiny prints, ideal for your home, office, or just about any situation you can imagine.

But it also helps Jupiter, Florida-based metal printer, Shiny Prints, make gorgeous works of art.

Shiny Prints is one of LexJet’s biggest Chromaluxe customers, largely because of its unmatched color and versatility.

We recently sat down with Matt Dee from Shiny Prints about why his company chooses Chromaluxe.

LexJet Reviews: Hot Products to Watch in 2021

In this edition of LexJet Reviews, C.J. Forker discusses a few of our customers’ favorites, making them some of the hottest products to watch in 2021.

From signage to photo panels to temporary banners, here are the products that will help keep you at the head of the class, this year:
HP Adhesive Vinyl – The products in the HP adhesive vinyl portfolio have been some of the hottest since their release in 2019. Customers say that the vinyl line delivers the consistency, performance, and image quality they expect from the HP brand.

HP Prime Banner – Unveiled last year, the HP Prime banner family quickly became another line of products our customers can’t resist. Available in 13-oz matte and gloss, 15-oz blockout, and 18-oz pole banner, these products are perfect for long-standing indoor displays or outdoor displays and offer extra durability.

ChromaLuxe Photo Panels – Using dye-sub technology, this high-end alternative to photographic paper helps your images stand out in the crowd. While there are similar products widely available in the market, very few can match the combination of color, durability, and diversity that ChromaLuxe panels offer.

Make an Impression with ChromaLuxe Photo Panels

Since we started telling photographers and print service providers about ChromaLuxe Photo Panels a few years ago, they have become one of our most popular products. Why? It’s simple: ChromaLuxe images make an impression.

From the bright vivid colors with the gloss to the durability of the EXT products, the dye-sublimation technology helps art, signage, and photographs stand out from the crowd. We are excited to announce that a new finish has been added to the ChromaLuxe family: Textured Aluminum panels.

The texture adds a unique look to your images, it also reduces glare and hides fingerprints for graphics in high-traffic areas. As with all ChromaLuxe products, the textured panels are durable and easy to clean.

ChromaLuxe metal prints are lightweight, durable, made with recycled material, and are 100% recyclable.

We Went Cruisin’ with FrameWorks Miami at Cruise Ship Interiors Expo

It was a tough job, but our team was up for it. They packed up mid-week and headed over to Miami to check out the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo at the Miami Beach Convention Center. What they found was endless opportunities for wide-format print applications!

Fun cruise decor displays at Cruise Ship Interiors Expo

More than 2,850 attendees attended the inaugural Cruise Expo to check out the growing needs for new, innovative products for new cruise ship builds and even more so the refurbishment of existing cruise ships.

“This event is something that we’ve needed,” says Antonio di Nenno, Lead Architect, MSC Cruises. “The market is changing and for the interiors industry, there’s nothing like this!”

Of course, trade shows in our industry are always full of the latest trends, and this show in Miami didn’t disappoint! We learned that 20 to 30 million people travel on cruises every year, a stat that’s grown 6% in the last few years.

FrameWorks Miami’s colorful stand

Like we’ve learned in digital printing, cruises are becoming more and more customized, rather than the “one-size-fits-all” approach. Themes like music, food, fitness and sports are really fine-tuning the cruising experience. And that translates to the need for more and more customized décor, graphics and signage, which is where wide-format PSPs can find some amazing opportunities.

LexJet customer FrameWorks Miami, which specializes in fine art printing and framing wanted to make a splash — almost literally — with their Fish Market & Fruit Stand exhibit during the Expo. We partnered with them to used ChromaLuxe metal panels in a super creative way. Using dye-sub technology, FrameWorks Miami created whimsical samples with fish and fruit prints that were cut to various shapes.

“From sardines, snapper, mahi to any type of fruit you can imagine, they had it,” says LexJet sales rep, Vince Bejar. “They even printed their own butcher paper to wrap up the samples for their potentials clients to take back with them to show off their state-of-the-art digital printing solutions. The attention to detail shown in their booth design & execution was seriously outstanding, especially since they created nearly everything in-house.”

We’re excited to see where cruise ship decor takes us in the near future. Printers looking to branch out into decor printing — like wallcoverings and wall art, such as canvas wraps — will find a ton of opportunities when working with this sector. Give us a call at 800-453-9538 for more ideas.

Get the Most Out of Your Dye-Sub Printer

Adding a whole new technology to your wide-format toolkit can be daunting, but the versatility you gain with dye-sublimation transfer printing can open all new opportunities. With the Epson SureColor Production printers, you can get into it with an initial investment starting around $7,ooo for the F6200 ($14,000 for the F7200 and $25,000 for the F9370) for a 44- or 64-inch system. Once you’re up and running, the creative and money-making possibilities are only limited to your imagination.

Dye-sublimation transfer is particularly favored for textile printing since the ink from the transfer adheres into the fabric, rather than sitting on top of it, as it does with other ink technologies. Once sublimated, the ink won’t crack, fleck or scratch off, making it an ideal option for knitted textiles, particularly high-performance athletic wear. (Bonus: Dye-sub fabrics are also washable!)

Metal photo panels by ChromaLuxe, available at LexJet

In addition to garment fabric, textiles printed for soft signage perform extremely well with dye-sub transfers. Backlit displays, tradeshow graphics and flags are two of the top applications for dye-sub, as they fold and travel easily and are cheaper to ship than films or vinyl often used for similar signage.

Dye-sub is a great complement to your other wide-format printers, allowing you to get into high-demand print products like the popular metal photo panels, ktochkees like coasters, cups and more, and customized décor, like pillows, window blinds and upholstery.

In addition to the printer system, you’ll also need transfer paper. The LexJet InFuze line provides four transfer papers for all needs, including textile, apparel, rigid substrate and multi-purpose. You’ll also need a heat press to sublimate the image to your final substrate. LexJet offers a full line of options, from a 16×20-inch table-top swinger heat press for small jobs, to a 112x48x53-inch heat calendar machine.
